The Circle of Truth:
Milton Wrestling
Wrestling at Milton Academy is built on a simple truth: in a sport with no timeouts and nowhere to hide, success is earned on the mat — in early morning sessions, in the final seconds of the third period, and in the daily discipline that separates good competitors from great ones. Our program combines the technical rigor of a high-level wrestling education with a modern approach to athletic performance, developing student-athletes who are as mentally tough as they are technically sound.
Competing in the Independent School League, the Mustangs face a rigorous schedule designed to prepare wrestlers for the ISL Championships and the New England Prep Championships. We emphasize technical mastery across neutral, top, and bottom positions while building the explosive power and conditioning required for a deep postseason run.
At Milton, wrestling has a proven track record of developing collegiate-ready student-athletes. The discipline, resilience, and competitive drive forged on the mat translate directly into the classroom and beyond. Whether you are an experienced competitor with championship aspirations or a newcomer drawn to the challenge, Milton Wrestling offers the coaching, culture, and competition necessary to help every athlete reach their full potential.

Wrestling LIVE STREAM
Program Philosophy
At Milton, the strength of the individual is forged through the commitment of the team. Every live go, every drill, and every hard practice is an opportunity to make the person across from you better while pushing yourself to improve. The standard in our room is not just personal accountability — it is collective growth.
Wrestling demands individual toughness and resilience, but our culture thrives because of teammates who challenge, support, and elevate one another every day. The partner across from you in the circle is not an obstacle — they are part of your development. One wrestler's improvement raises the level of the entire team.
We develop wrestlers who are tough, selfless, and dependable — athletes who understand that while they compete alone on the mat, they are strengthened every day by the people beside them. From demanding practices to the roar of the bench during a home dual meet, the bonds forged in this room define the Milton wrestling experience.

The Pipeline: Building the Foundation
Opportunities: 1st Team, 2nd Team, 3rd Team
Wrestling at Milton is a sport for everyone — regardless of prior experience. Our program takes pride in developing athletes who are stepping onto the mat for the first time alongside veterans who are competing for New England titles. Newcomers and experienced grapplers train side-by-side in a fluid system built on mentorship, where senior leaders help bridge the gap for those learning the fundamentals.
Whether you are chasing a championship or looking to build functional fitness and mental toughness, there is a place for you.

Coaching Staff

Kahn Chace
Head Coach
Coach Chace brings over 23 years of coaching experience and a deep commitment to team building to the Milton wrestling program. With an extensive background in both wrestling and football — including a notable tenure as head coach at Oliver Ames — he understands that success on the mat is built on technical discipline, clear communication, and mutual respect. For the past five years, he has also served as a MIWOA wrestling official, bringing a nuanced understanding of the rules and competitive landscape to his work with the Mustangs.
Beyond the wrestling room, Coach Chace serves as Milton Academy's Building Maintenance Manager — a role that reflects the same investment in growth and honest communication that defines his coaching philosophy. He views the mat as a space where character is forged and where every wrestler, regardless of experience, can find a path for personal development.
Under Coach Chace's leadership, the program centers on the "Power of Your Why" — encouraging wrestlers to identify their internal motivation while contributing to a collective Mustang standard. He is dedicated to building a resilient, high-intensity environment where the shared grind of daily training creates lifelong bonds and battle-tested competitors ready to face any challenge on the mat and beyond.

Bill Hamel
Assistant Coach
Coach Hamel is a cornerstone of the Milton wrestling program, bringing decades of technical expertise and a genuine passion for the sport to the Mustang mats. A former standout competitor, he specializes in the mechanics of the neutral position and the leverage principles that allow wrestlers to dominate on top — with a coaching style defined by patience, high energy, and a commitment to individual growth at every level of experience.
Working closely with Head Coach Chace, Coach Hamel helps foster a team culture built on sportsmanship, mental toughness, and the collective standard that carries athletes through the final seconds of a tough match. For Coach Hamel, the goal is straightforward — every wrestler should leave the mat with more confidence and more character than when they stepped on it.

Our Wrestling Alumni
The bond formed in the Milton wrestling room is one of the strongest in our athletic community. The resilience, discipline, and grit forged on the mat create lifelong connections among those who have worn a Mustang singlet — and our alumni carry those lessons into the world's most competitive arenas, from collegiate athletics to professional leadership.
We take immense pride in our graduates who have continued wrestling at the collegiate level in the NCAA and NCWA, and who frequently return to campus to mentor the next generation of Mustang grapplers. Once a wrestler, always a wrestler — and once a Mustang, always part of this program.
