Mustang Grit: Milton Boys Lacrosse
The foundation of Milton Lacrosse was laid in 1970 by Thomas G. Cleveland ’45, and the program quickly rose to prominence with a dominant string of winning seasons throughout the late 70s and 80s. The Mustangs reached a historic peak in 1989, capturing the ISL title with a 12-2 record, and followed that legacy with an undefeated ISL Championship campaign in 2004. This tradition of success has produced numerous All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and ISL MVPs. Today, the program continues to thrive under the pressure of the postseason race. Most recently, the 2025 squad showed incredible heart by winning three straight must-win games to battle their way into the ISL playoffs. This resilience ensures that Milton remains a premier destination for players looking to compete at the highest level of prep lacrosse.
Milton Academy Boys Lacrosse is defined by a commitment to the grind both on the field and in the classroom. The program is built on a culture of mutual respect and collective hustle. Our roster is a diverse mix of talent, drawing top student-athletes from the local New England area, across the United States, and Canada. This creates an extremely tight-knit group where the coaching staff—all of whom have competed at the highest levels of the game—is dedicated to the individual development and collective success of every player wearing the Mustang script.
Milton tests itself against one of the most rigorous schedules in the Northeast. In addition to a full slate of conference opponents, the Mustangs regularly face off against top-tier non-league programs and traditional regional powers to ensure a high level of competition throughout the spring. To prepare for the season, we alternate our training blocks; every other year, the team travels south for a week-long immersion to compete against formidable national programs and solidify team chemistry through shared travel and meals. During off-travel years, we maximize Milton’s campus facilities for local training and heavy-duty scrimmages against premier public and private programs across the region.

Head Coach Goodrich challenges every player in the program to be the best version of himself: a dedicated teammate, a loyal friend, a supportive brother, a engaged classmate, and a contributing member of his community. He asks every Mustang to be proud of the person he sees in the mirror.
Coach Goodrich believes — and has proven — that when you build a roster of high-character young men who genuinely care for one another and their community, you build a program that is exceptionally difficult to beat. The values of compassion, teamwork, and civic responsibility are not seasonal priorities at Milton; they are year-round expectations that define what it means to wear a Mustang uniform. The lacrosse experience here is a special one, both on the field and off, because we understand that how you conduct yourself is ultimately a reflection of who you are.

By fostering an environment where veteran players mentor younger teammates and the coaching staff is personally invested in each individual's trajectory, we ensure that the grind of the season strengthens our bonds rather than breaking them. Mark Goodrich
Head Coach
Coach Goodrich began leading the Milton Academy lacrosse program in 2017, bringing a lifetime of elite competitive experience and a deep commitment to student-athlete development. A native of the ISL, he was one of the most decorated multi-sport athletes in the region during his high school career, earning All-League recognition in football, basketball, and lacrosse. A national standout, he was ranked the #9 recruit in the country and #4 attackman by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in 2007, and was selected to represent the North in the Under Armour All-American game.
Coach Goodrich continued his career at Johns Hopkins University, appearing in 52 games under Hall of Fame coach Dave Pietramala. During his tenure, the Blue Jays made five straight playoff appearances and captured a National Championship. He was recognized with the W. Taylor Cook Memorial Award for Strength of Character and Positive Influence — an honor that speaks directly to the values he now instills in his players at Milton.
Beyond his playing career, Coach Goodrich has been a pivotal figure in the New England lacrosse landscape, helping build the 3d New England club program, founding a Winter Box Lacrosse league for Greater Boston's top high school teams, and designing a College Prep Overnight camp to prepare athletes for the collegiate transition. At Milton, he serves as House Head of Norris House and teaches Physical Education, Health, CPR, and Project Adventure.
Corey Simonson
Assistant Coach
Coach Simonson joined Coach Goodrich’s staff in 2022, specializing in the development of the program’s goaltenders and defensive unit. A premier talent at the position during his own playing career, He was a standout at Amherst College, where he earned All-American honors in the cage. His deep technical understanding of the "last line of defense" and his ability to mentor young athletes through the mental rigors of the position are vital assets to the Mustang sideline.
At Milton, Coach Simonson is a key presence beyond the field, serving as a full-time Admissions Officer in the Upper School. His professional role within the academy provides him with a unique perspective on the student-athlete experience, allowing him to support players as they navigate the balance between high-level athletics and Milton’s rigorous academic environment. His commitment to the program’s defensive identity and his investment in the community make him an essential pillar of the coaching staff.
Colin Casey
Assistant Coach
Colin Casey joined the Milton Academy coaching staff in 2024, focusing his expertise on the Mustangs' offensive unit. Coach Casey brings experience from the highest level of collegiate play, having competed as a Division I athlete at Quinnipiac University. A true representative of the student-athlete ideal, he was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, reflecting a commitment to excellence that mirrors the standards of the Milton classroom.
On the field, Coach Casey works to develop a high-IQ offensive attack, focusing on technical skill, situational awareness, and creative playmaking. His ability to translate Division I tactical concepts into the prep school game has been instrumental in the program's recent offensive growth. Coach Casey’s dedication to the team's success and his focus on mentoring young athletes make him a key contributor to the Mustang sideline.
Greg Wozniak
Assistant Coach
Coach Wozniak joined the Milton Academy coaching staff in 2025, bringing a distinguished background in defensive play at the Division I level. A graduate of Boston University, he was a cornerstone of the Terriers' defense, earning Second Team All-Patriot League honors in both 2016 and 2017, as well as Second Team All-New England recognition. His consistency and tactical presence on the field were further highlighted by being named a three-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and a selection for the prestigious USILA North/South All-Star game in 2017.
At Milton, Coach Wozniak leverages his extensive experience to mentor the Mustangs' defensive unit, focusing on technical footwork, stick positioning, and the communication required to succeed against top-tier competition. His proven track record at the highest levels of the game allows him to provide invaluable insight into the discipline and grit needed to compete in the ISL. Coach Wozniak’s commitment to building a resilient defensive identity makes him a vital asset to the program’s growth and the development of our student-athletes.
