Milton Girls Soccer: Forging a Legacy of Unity and Excellence

For over 30 years, the Milton Academy Girls’ Soccer program has been defined by a commitment to competitive excellence and the development of authentic leadership. As one of the premier prep school programs in New England, our philosophy is grounded in the belief that the individual and the team empower one another. We compete in the highly respected Independent School League (ISL), where our 1st Team has secured three ISL championships and a New England Championship.

Our program serves as a proven springboard for the collegiate level; recent graduates have continued their athletic and academic careers at prestigious institutions. This success is underpinned by a professionalized approach to athlete development, featuring a dedicated strength and conditioning curriculum led by resident faculty experts. By integrating core stability, speed, and injury-prevention protocols into the in-season schedule, we ensure our athletes are as resilient as they are skilled.

Led by a coaching staff of women with distinguished playing careers, Milton Girls’ Soccer represents the future of the sport—where technical mastery meets empowered leadership.

Program Philosophy: The Strength of the Pack

At Milton, we believe that excellence is a collective pursuit. Before every match, our players recite Rudyard Kipling's "The Law of the Jungle" — a ritual that grounds us in a simple truth: the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

Our culture is joyful by design, not by accident. We dance in the locker room, find levity in the hardest conditioning sets, and treat play not as a reward but as a philosophy. We hold the duality of the student-athlete experience without apology — the pursuit of championships and the genuine pleasure of the game coexist here.

We ask our players to show up as themselves. Vulnerability is not a liability in this program; it is how trust is built and how teams are made. Every voice, freshmen to senior, carries weight. Pregame family dinners, team bus traditions, and locker room rituals are not peripheral to what we do — they are the program.

The friendships formed off the field are the foundation of what happens on it.

The Milton Girls' Soccer program fields three teams, offering a transformative experience for every student regardless of where they are in their athletic journey. From elite competitors to those discovering the game for the first time, the expectation is the same: play with pride, lead with empathy, and bring your whole self to the field. There is a place here for every type of competitor.

Coaching Staff

Danielle Gordon

Head Coach, Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Coach Gordon joins Milton Academy as the Head Coach of Girls’ Varsity Soccer following a successful tenure at Bentley University (2018–2025). As Assistant and Interim Head Coach, she helped guide the Falcons to the first two NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.

An elite competitor, her playing career includes starting for Northeastern University’s 2010 Championship squad and playing for Boston College. Professionally, she competed in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) before being offered a contract with Icelandic club Breidablik, a UEFA Women’s Champions League competitor.

In addition to her work at Milton, Coach D is the Regional Manager for New England Surf South Shore and a mentor for the Boston Dream Soccer Association. Holding National and Advanced Coaching Diplomas from United Soccer Coaches and a U.S. Soccer license, she is dedicated to building a high-energy culture where student-athletes thrive as both competitors and leaders.

Emily Sedgwick

Assistant Coach, Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Coach Em brings a "360-degree" perspective to the Wolfpack as both a veteran coach and a key member of Milton’s Communications staff. Her playing career spans every level of the game. Recruited to Duquesne University on a full athletic scholarship, she graduated as Team Captain and the most decorated player in program history, earning the program's first-ever selection to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Elite Team and helping lead the Dukes to a National Top-25 ranking and the Atlantic 10 tournament. Her collegiate career included international competition against national squads in England, Scotland, and Wales. Having navigated the journey from recruited athlete to collegiate captain, she provides grounded mentorship to players — guiding them through the psychological and physical demands of high-level competition while helping them navigate the collegiate recruiting landscape.

Her coaching career spans club programs including Aspen United, South Shore Select, and America F.C., where she has developed players at every stage of the game. Her approach is built on competitive honesty, precision, and the ability to perform under pressure — the qualities that prepare players for college rosters and beyond.

At Milton, Coach Em specializes in tactical innovation and player development. Holding a U.S. Soccer coaching license and SafeSport certification, she brings a whole-player philosophy that pairs rigorous standards with character-driven leadership. As a certified Pilates instructor with expertise in functional movement, she integrates stability training into the team's conditioning program — prioritizing performance and long-term injury prevention in equal measure.

Jamie LaRochelle

Goalkeeper Coach, Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Coach LaRochelle has been a cornerstone of the Milton Academy Girls’ Soccer program for over a decade. As the program’s dedicated goalkeeper specialist, Coach La provides daily training for the Varsity keepers while overseeing the technical development of every goalkeeper across all levels of the girls' program.

A true "triple threat" faculty member, He is a member of the Science Department, a residential faculty member, and the head coach of the Academy’s swimming program. Coach La’s excellence in mentorship was formally recognized when he received the Marijke D. Alsbach Coaching Award, an annual honor given to a coach who models the highest ideals of the profession, demonstrating exceptional technical skill and a profound commitment to the physical and social well-being of student-athletes.

An accomplished athlete himself, he was a collegiate swimmer and continues to compete as a USMS Swimmer. This lifelong competitive drive informs his coaching philosophy, which centers on technical precision and mental resilience.

Honors & Awards

Milton Girls' Soccer has established itself as one of the premier programs in New England prep school athletics. Built on decades of competitive excellence, the Wolfpack has earned ISL championships, New England titles, and a consistent presence in postseason competition at the highest level.

The program sustained dominance in the mid-to-late 1990s, when Milton ran off an extraordinary streak of 50 consecutive ISL wins — a standard of consistency that remains one of the most remarkable stretches in program history.
