Tradition, Character, and Excellence: Milton Football

Milton Academy Football is built on high academic standards and an unwavering commitment to the collective over the individual. For nearly two decades, the program has maintained one of the highest winning percentages in the Independent School League (ISL), amassing a storied record of 108-43-3. This success includes two undefeated league championships and three New England titles, achieved while consistently playing the toughest schedule in an ultra-competitive environment.

The Mustang culture is defined by discipline, resilience, and a "team-first" mentality that prioritizes the brotherhood of the jersey above all else — a standard reflected in a back-to-back stretch of undefeated seasons and ISL Championships from 2019 to 2021, and in a consistent pipeline of players who go on to compete at the collegiate level, with alumni currently playing at programs including Michigan, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Penn State, and Georgetown.

Milton Football is built on a refusal to back down. The program has earned a reputation for an explosive offense and a defense capable of holding opponents to negative yardage — a combination of tactical precision and physical toughness that allows the Mustangs to compete at the highest level of Class A football. That same toughness is the point: every player who comes through the program is meant to carry it well beyond their time on the field.

Milton Academy Football is built on the belief that every student should have the chance to experience the discipline, brotherhood, and growth that come from being part of a team — whether they're an experienced player aiming for the collegiate ranks or a newcomer learning the fundamentals for the first time.

The program fields teams across multiple levels of competition, ensuring every athlete is challenged appropriately and gets the coaching they need to improve. The lessons learned on the field — resilience, strategy, and collective effort — are meant to be accessible to every student who wants to be a Mustang.

Coaching Staff

Mike Mason

Head Coach

Coach Mason brings over four decades of football experience and a deep-rooted connection to the Milton Academy community. He began his football career as a player under Kevin MacDonald at Archbishop Williams from 1982 to 1986, then returned as an assistant coach there from 1988 to 1994 while earning his degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University. The two reunited at Milton Academy in 1996, where Coach Mason served as assistant linebacker coach before eventually becoming Defensive Coordinator.

During his 15 years as Defensive Coordinator, Coach Mason helped build one of the most respected defenses in New England, contributing to a Mustangs program that won back-to-back ISL Championships in 2019 and 2021. He succeeded MacDonald as Head Coach in 2022, continuing a coaching partnership and program legacy that spans nearly three decades.

Beyond the scoreboard, Coach Mason plays an integral role in recruiting student-athletes to Milton and helping them continue their football careers at the collegiate level, with players going on to programs including Michigan, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Penn State, and Georgetown. A patrol officer for the Town of Milton for the past 30 years, he is also the proud father of three daughters, all of whom went on to compete athletically at the collegiate level.

Paul Rebuck

Assistant Coach

Coach Rebuck has been a dedicated member of the Milton Academy community since 2003, serving as Dean of Enrollment and Financial Aid while bringing his athletic background to the football program as an Assistant Coach. A graduate of Amherst College, he went on to earn an M.S. from the University of Vermont.

At Milton, Coach Rebuck wears many hats — administrator, advisor, and football coach — though he's perhaps most at home on Stokinger Field. As both a coach and a Milton parent (Classes of '19 and '20), he brings a personal investment to the growth and success of every student-athlete he works with, helping guide the Mustangs through the competitive rigors of the ISL each fall.

Scott Prince

Assistant Coach

Coach Prince is an integral member of the Milton Academy football staff, known for his commitment to player development and mentorship across multiple levels of the game. With a coaching philosophy centered on foundational skills and long-term athletic growth, he has played a vital role in preparing athletes to contribute to the program's success.

As the Mustangs' Recruiting Coordinator, Coach Prince plays an integral role in the long-term success of student-athletes as they transition to the collegiate level and beyond. He works tirelessly to connect players with college programs that align with their academic and athletic ambitions, expertly guiding families through the complex recruiting landscape. His dedication to ensuring every athlete finds the right fit at the next level makes him a cornerstone of the coaching staff, fostering the character, readiness, and team-first mentality that defines the Milton program on and off the gridiron.

Matt Lawlor

Assistant Coach

Coach Lawlor brings high-level leadership and strategic vision to the football program as Milton's Associate Athletic Director. Before arriving at Milton, he served as Director of Athletics at Brewster Academy — where he was also head boys varsity basketball coach and a member of the NEPSAC Executive Board of Directors — and previously held the same role at Chase Collegiate School. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from Springfield College and a master's degree in physical education from Central Connecticut State University.

In addition to his work with the Varsity squad, Coach Lawlor serves as an assistant coach for the Junior Varsity team, playing a vital role in bridging the gap between developmental play and elite Class A competition. Known for his ability to translate complex game planning into actionable drills, he is dedicated to the technical precision and physical preparation of athletes across both levels — a dual role in the Athletic Department and on the sidelines that allows him to mentor student-athletes year-round.

Kahn Chase

Offensive Line Coach

Coach Chace serves as Offensive Line Coach for the Mustangs, responsible for the development and execution of the program's front five. Known for his focus on technique, leverage, and positional discipline, he plays a key role in building the physical and mental toughness needed to anchor Milton's offense.

Under his guidance, the offensive line has become a consistent strength of the program, providing the protection and run-blocking needed to compete against the ISL's toughest defenses. Coach Chace emphasizes communication and cohesion, ensuring his unit operates with the precision required to win at the line of scrimmage — developing both varsity veterans and younger players into a deep, disciplined rotation prepared for the demands of Class A football.

Chaim Andler

Assistant Coach

Coach Andler brings a specialized focus on speed, strength, and sport-specific performance training to the Milton Academy football staff. He founded Boston Athletic Training, where he has spent over a decade working with athletes throughout the Greater Boston area on speed, strength, and football-specific performance.

His expertise in biomechanics and conditioning is a valuable asset to the Mustangs, where he focuses on sharpening the physical tools and football-specific skills required for high-level competition. Coach Andler's approach bridges the gap between raw athleticism and on-field execution, helping athletes become not only faster and stronger but also more resilient and prepared for the mental demands of the game. A dedicated advocate for youth development, he is passionate about using sport as a vehicle to teach lasting life lessons.

Carl Cadet

Assistant Coach

Coach Cadet serves as Defensive Coordinator for the Milton Academy football program, bringing strategic expertise and a deep understanding of the game to the Mustangs' sideline. A graduate of Endicott College, he is dedicated to building a tenacious, disciplined, and cohesive defensive unit, with a coaching philosophy that emphasizes tactical execution, fundamentals, and the holistic development of every student-athlete.

Beyond the defensive scheme, Coach Cadet is deeply committed to mentorship and character building. He works closely with players to cultivate resilience, work ethic, and a team-first mentality — a commitment to youth development reflected in his founding of the Tenfold Cares Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2015. His ability to connect with student-athletes and guide them toward success both on and off the field makes him a cornerstone of the Milton Academy coaching staff.

Milton Academy Football has established itself as a powerhouse within the Independent School League and across New England, with a history defined by championship-level performance, sportsmanship, and a consistent pipeline of athletes earning recognition at the league and regional level. Over the past two decades, the program has compiled a 108–43–3 record — among the winningest in the ISL. The trophy case reflects that standard across every era of the program.

2025 Season Honors

Following a dominant 6-2 regular season and a statement win over arch-rival Nobles, the Mustangs earned a prestigious NEPSAC Bowl Game bid to face Class A Brunswick.
