At Milton Academy, we believe that great food fuels both learning and community.
Our dining program offers fresh, nutritious meals and a vibrant dining hall experience for both day and boarding students, supporting community, wellness, and student life on campus.
Our culinary team develops flavorful seasonal menus featuring local ingredients. Main courses at each meal rotate frequently to ensure dining hall visitors experience a wide variety of options throughout the year. Our students are also encouraged to be adventurous—to mix and match the many items available on any particular day—to create meals that are uniquely their own.

A Place for Everyone
TO EAT TOGETHER
Forbes Dining Hall serves as the main communal dining space on campus, welcoming all students (both Day and Boarding), faculty, and staff, especially during lunch. For boarding students, breakfast and dinner are also served in Forbes Dining Hall. On weekends, Forbes follows a brunch schedule, with continental breakfast available in the house's dining areas. During scheduled sit-down dinners, dinner is served in each designated house's respective dining area as part of the boarding program.
Forbes offers a wide variety of freshly prepared entrees, a soup station, deli and salad bars, rotating favorites like premade salads, and desserts. We are committed to offering satisfying, healthy options, including gluten- and nut-free, allergen friendly options so that everyone can find something delicious to eat. Our dining program is proud to be a leader in culinary excellence—celebrating global cuisines, championing sustainability, and prioritizing nutrition in every meal we serve. We source responsibly, craft menus that reflect the rich diversity of world flavors, and create balanced, nourishing options that support the health and well-being of our community. Through thoughtful practices and inspired cooking, we bring people together around food that’s as good for the planet as it is for the body.
Food Allergies
To best support students with food allergies, our dining team works closely with the Health Center as well as individual students and their families to provide appropriate meal options, so that every student feels safe, supported, and welcomed in Milton’s dining facilities.

Sustainability &
Community
Forbes Dining Hall has also become a focal point for sustainability efforts: we participate in a local composting program and spotlight vegan meals weekly, thanks to the advocacy of the Milton Sustainability Board.

Food, Friendship, and Community: Dining for Milton Boarding Students
Boarding students find community in many ways on campus, including breaking bread with others. Forbes Dining Hall, and other dining spaces on campus, are more than just places where they can grab food quickly. We encourage students to stay awhile and to use these spaces to spend time together with classmates, connect with an advisor, get to know the staff, complete homework, or just people-watch. Weekly house dinners; provide additional opportunities for boarding students to solidify positive relationships with the peers they live with. Weekly house dinners include both fun and serious topics of discussions alongside celebrations of major milestones (e.g., birthdays, success on the stage or field, graduation, etc.). Ultimately, meals become part of a boarding student’s experience on campus and contribute to their sense of belonging at Milton.
Snack Bar
Open to satisfy cravings outside of meal times, the Snack Bar offers an array of grab-and-go items, from breakfast sandwiches to chicken fingers to desserts. The Snack Bar is located on the ground floor of the Schwarz Student Center and is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 6 p.m.
