Art and Media Center (AMC)

Two young women standing on a sidewalk surrounded by trees and buildings, with a sign visible in the background.

The Art and Media Center is alive with the energy of creativity and collaboration.

Home to Milton’s visual arts, film, design, and computer science & robotics programs, the AMC provides students and faculty with spaces that inspire exploration, innovation, and expression across many artistic disciplines.

The building’s open design features spacious first floor studios for drawing, painting, ceramics, architecture, printmaking and sculpture as well as flexible workspaces that encourage students and faculty to experiment, collaborate, and bring ideas to life. The second level is home to Milton’s robust photography, technology, media and design programs featuring computer labs, a lighting studio, a darkroom, and a 3D printer room all equipped with state-of-the-art technology that supports hands-on learning in digital media and visual storytelling.

The AMC’s lower level is also home to Milton’s Computer Science Department and two robotics labs for the Middle and Upper School, where students design, build, and program code as part of Milton’s popular robotics teams, which compete at the national and world level. The film program, including a green-screen room, an editing room, and Greeley Auditorium and Lecture hall, are also located on the ground floor, making the AMC a hub for interdisciplinary learning.

The Nesto Gallery

Located on the lower level of the AMC, the Nesto Gallery has been a vibrant part of campus since its opening on January 10, 1975, showcasing the art world’s most current practices to our students. Hosting six exhibitions annually, the gallery features work by professional artists from New England and beyond, showcasing painting, photography, sculpture, and new media. Often open to the public, it invites the broader community to experience a range of artistic expression. The gallery also enriches Milton’s Visual Arts Department program, offering students the opportunity to connect with and learn from accomplished artists. Outside the AMC, the annual outdoor sculpture exhibition, an extension of the Nesto Gallery, creates a vibrant display visible from Centre Street.

The gallery is a gift of the Nesto family, which includes several Milton alumni: Richard Nesto ’67, William Nesto ’69, Anne Marie Nesto Filosa ’73, Adam Nesto ’10, and Eric Nesto ’12.
