At Milton Academy, we offer a rich, rigorous Upper School math program that challenges students at every level, from mastering foundational concepts to exploring advanced topics. Many students choose Milton specifically for the depth of our upper-level math courses, which include options such as Linear & Abstract Algebra, Advanced Statistical Methods, Advanced Topics: Probability, and Advanced Topics: Differential Forms and Calculus on Manifolds, and Multivariable Calculus—offerings rarely found in secondary schools.

The Farokhzad Mathematics Center (FMC)

Designed to foster collaboration and exploration, the Farokhzad Mathematics Center (opened in 2024)  is Milton’s dynamic home for mathematics.

Our Math Courses: From Foundations to Frontiers

Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire every student. Beginning with courses like Proof and Problem Solving and Algebra II, students build a strong base in reasoning and technique. As they progress, they have opportunities to explore advanced electives not often found in secondary education, including Multivariable Calculus, Linear & Abstract Algebra, Advanced Statistical Methods, Advanced Topics: Probability, and Advanced Topics: Differential Forms and Calculus on Manifolds. 

Each math course supports growth in four key skill domains:

Milton’s math faculty are lifelong learners themselves. They are passionate about both mathematics as a discipline and teaching as a craft, and recognize that excellent instruction doesn’t look just one way. Whether leading with direct instruction or guiding through open-ended inquiry, our faculty adapt their teaching styles to meet the needs of their students, balancing inductive and deductive reasoning, theory and application, rigor and creativity.
