In the foreground, a whiteboard with red marker scribbles sits next to a meeting table with blue chairs, while in the background, people work around the table in a well-lit office with wooden doors and a clock on the wall.
The image shows a young woman in a light blue sweater standing in a room, with another person partially visible in the background.

At Milton, we want all of our students to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

The Academic Skills Center (ASC) offers resources to help each student reach their academic potential. Services available through the ASC complement the support students receive from their individual teachers and advisors.

Located adjacent to the library in Wigglesworth Hall, the ASC is staffed by two learning specialists as well as teachers who offer drop-in help. Some students use ASC support on a regularly scheduled basis, while others schedule appointments with the learning specialists only when they need particular help. The ASC facilitates the TutorMilton program, a web program and app connecting teacher-approved peer tutors with interested students. The ASC faculty also sponsor the Advocates for Diverse Abilities affinity group.

Support FOR ALL

Milton’s Academic Skills Center is a warm, welcoming hub where students feel supported, understood, and empowered to succeed. Through personalized guidance and a collaborative, stigma-free environment, it reflects a community-wide belief that asking for help is both encouraged and essential to growth.

Everyone learns differently.

Our skilled learning specialists work with each student to offer personalized support in the areas they need most, including:

  • Creation of accommodation plans for students who qualify

  • Instruction in organization, note-taking, time management, study strategies, test preparation, stress management, and other academic skills

  • Coaching in setting personal goals and objectives

  • Sharing learning resources on the Academic Skills Center Schoology page

  • Connecting students with other resources on campus including teachers, peer tutors, and staff in our Counseling Center and Health Center as well

  • Applying for college entrance exam accommodations (SAT, ACT)

  • Working in tandem with the Counseling Center, Health Center, and athletic trainers to support students who need to catch up with classwork following challenges such as health issues or extended absences
